Structural Steelwork – Queen Street Station Redevelopment

J&D Pierce Contracts are pleased to announce that we have secured the contract for the new Main Station Building and Operational Staff Accommodation Building at Queen Street Station, Glasgow. This 1500t contract has been in the Tendering process for over two years, and finally came to fruition recently. The Operational Staff Accommodation Building will commence in October 2017, with the Main Station Building works commencing in Autumn 2018. The Main Station Building will have 2 No Main Truss sections at the West George Street and Dundas Street elevations, and this will provide a challenge during the erection operations.

Queen Street Station which is the 3rd busiest station in Scotland is being redeveloped to modernise and upgrade existing services to accommodate the expected rise in number of persons travelling further north and to the east coast and also to accommodate the faster, longer, greener electric trains being introduced to Scotland’s railway as part of the £742m Edinburgh-Glasgow Improvement Programme.
