Swansea Arena and Car Park Construction Complete

The erection of the structural steelwork on the new 3,500 capacity Swansea Arena and Conference Centre and Car Park has been completed.  This project is a part of an ambitious city-wide regeneration, the £135 million Copr Bay Phase One scheme.

Work commenced on the Arena first with the construction of the upper floors, auditorium, roof and gantry totaling in excess of 1,300 tonnes of steelwork.

The car park which was situated across the road from the Arena was then constructed totaling in excess of 1,400 tonnes of steel.  Structural steelwork for level 1-8 were erected with precast concrete slabs installed including up/down ramps and crash barriers.

The site was located in a city centre location on a small site footprint.  This itself presented us with a challenge as the area surrounding the site was still open for public use.  The lack of space limited space for material laydown.  Timed deliveries ensured no delay to programme.
