Overlooking the Hamilton Straight start-finish line, the new 80m bridge at Silverstone Circuit provides a convenient covered walkway to bridge the gap between the new trackside hotel and their international conference and exhibition centre.
The bridge was designed and built by J&D Pierce involving an asymmetric warran truss to offset footfall induced vibrations, tubular framing and spider fixings to accommodate faceted glass facades.
With cladding and glass pre-installed, the bridge was erected in three modular sections from one-side access on the racetrack in a tight three-day window using smart temporary works involving pretensioned shores and piles to avoid track constraints.
