J & D Pierce were tasked with the production, fabrication & erection of the structural steelwork for the expansion of the road stand at Anfield, home of Liverpool FC.

When complete the redevelopment of the Anfield Road stand will make Anfield one of the largest stadiums in the Premier League and would take the overall capacity to over 61,000. The changes will add 7,000 additional seats, this proposed capacity increase is the maximum achievable whilst complying with stadium design, safety and comfort standards.

The new Stand at Anfield is structurally complex involving roof trusses with multi-member joint nodes. It qualifies for the highest Building Risk Group and Execution Class meaning that the design can often be governed by criteria for the accidental condition. Rather than design connections for individual members, the approach for Anfield was to design nodes for a series of multiple connections.

Multiple truss’s have been fabricated and erected on site by J & D Pierce (Contracts) Ltd with the largest being a full 300 Tonne truss lifted back in July of 2022.

This project is nearing completion from our end with the last large lift taking place on the 10th of february this year (2023).
