NEW ASIF COURSE – Welding Skills starts in May 2026 in partnership with J & D Pierce – one of the leading structural steelwork engineers in the UK. Following the 15-week course you gain the skills to build football stadiums, bridges, train stations and warehouses. Welders are in high demand throughout the UK and this course provides the skills to enter a rewarding welding career. You will receive hands-on training and work experience in the welding industry and with commitment and focus you could gain employment on completion.
Entry Requirements – There are no formal entry requirements for the course, we would welcome candidates who have technical/ manufacturing skills or experience. This does not need to be in the engineering industry, but candidates should be able to demonstrate how their previous experience and hand-skills will support being a welder. Candidates should be unemployed/seeking work and live in Ayrshire.
Course Content – The course will run 2 days a week for 15 weeks including practical welding skills, accredited qualifications and work experience Course will cover Metal Active Gas (MAG) Welding, LRQA Welder Qualification Test Certificate BS EN ISO9606-1: 2017, Abrasive Wheels Training, Provision & Use of Work Equipment Reg 1998, Health & Safety Awareness, Manual Handling Operations, Visual Inspection of Welds & Testing.
