We operate office facilities in four locations across the UK, in Glengarnock, East Kilbride, Scarborough, and Durham. These offices host our teams that facilitate seamless operations across J&D Pierce.
Our offices across the UK are home to our award-winning Design and Detailing Departments, Business Development Teams, Estimating Departments, Cladding and Bridging Divisions, Production Department, Administration Teams, SHEQ Departments and Training Academy. At the helm of each of our divisions are our directors, each bringing expertise in pre-construction, construction, group operations, and design to support their teams in delivering excellent quality.
⸺ Manufacturing
Our Three state-of-the-art facilities – totalling approximately 1 million sq ft – have a fabrication and coating capacity of 1,500Te per week including bespoke fabrication and intumescent paint coatings.
We operate state-of-the-art automated shot blaster, plasma cutter, robotic coping line, and cut and drill lines in preparation for fabrication. This system is the largest and most automated of its kind in Europe, provided by Voortman capable of processing above 200Te of steel per day. All members are blasted in our automatic blast facility which can manage parts up to 2m high and 2.5m wide before being moved into our paint shop. Our paint shop spans 350,000sq ft managed by 60 operatives with the capability to paint with multicoat intumescent coatings as required.
Our team control volume fabricated steelwork on a continuous flow system, delivering shot-blasted and painted products to our CE marking compliance standards. The business operates a just-in-time ‘pull’ system for stock inventory manufacturing to phased construction deliveries. Within the main production facility, we use bar coding, RFI technology, and STRUMIS to monitor and control quality and supply.
⸺ Transport
Our fully liveried fleet is integral to our operations, and, through our continued investment, it has grown to include 10 articulated lorries, over 50 vans, and a wide selection of escort, transport, and plant vehicles, each recognisable and essential for escorting and erecting projects across the country.
With our Scania and Volvo lorries we have the capacity to haul up to 65Te per load. Our fleet of 50 trailers includes 13.5m tri-axle flatbed trailers and extendable trailers up to 22m. Additionally, we have multiple low loader trailers designed to handle various sizes of equipment, including our 80Te super low loader extending trailer, specifically designed to accommodate even larger loads and oversized equipment.
Our continued investment in equipment and training ensures that our fleet and plant equipment are dependable resources for clients, available nationwide for projects of all sizes. All our vehicles are modern, well maintained, and fuel efficient with EURO6 engines and our operatives are highly trained and fully certified in all transport operations. Our Headquarters at Glengarnock hosts our fully staffed mechanical workshop and body shop, ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest standards.
We offer extensive training in NVQ/SQA courses for external business available in our CITB and JAUPT accredited Training Academy. We are committed to improving our environmental policies and minimising our impact on the planet.
⸺ Plant
Our large fleet of plant ensures safety and functionality on site while delivering significant savings on cost and time. Leading our lifting capabilities are 11 Grove all-terrain mobile cranes, ranging from 3-axle 55Te to 5-axle 250Te models. These cranes provide full versatility and control across our sites, making them a key component in the erection process. Complementing this are our 12Te all-terrain telehandlers, featuring a maximum lift height of 10m, maximum reach of 6m, and 360° lift capability.
Supporting access and installation in challenging conditions, we operate a wide range of Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPs), from 13m to 27m in height. Available in both straight and Z boom models and built for all terrains, our MEWPs are fully integrated with INFOBRIC and strictly controlled by J&D Pierce authorised personnel, ensuring security and minimising risk on site.
