The Gairnshiel Jubilee Bridge is a single span twin trapezoidal box girder structure built to bypass the existing 18th century humpback bridge located 150m upstream.
The bridge was delivered to site in four sections and welded together on site to form twin boxes each 35.5m long and weighing 93Te. The complexity of the sloping outer web demanded absolute precision during the design and installation phases. The box girders were installed using a 600Te crane and all site works were completed in a single 10-hour working window, showcasing the efficiency and expertise of the project team.
One of the defining features of the Gairnshiel Jubilee Bridge is its weathering properties, which develop a unique patina over time, blending seamlessly with the rustic landscape of Glen Gairn.
