We are looking to appoint a Buyer to support our fabrication operations through the effective procurement of main materials. The role will work closely with our Production and Planning teams to ensure materials are ordered, delivered, and managed in line with production requirements. This is a practical, office-based role within a well-established fabrication business, suited to someone who is organised, reliable, and comfortable working in a production-focused environment.
- Procure primary materials to support production and project requirements
- Place purchase orders in accordance with agreed specifications and lead times
- Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
- Monitor deliveries and follow up on outstanding or delayed items
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, including purchase orders and delivery documentation
- Work collaboratively with Production to support smooth workflow and continuity
- Previous experience in a buying or procurement role, ideally within manufacturing, construction, or fabrication
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Clear and professional communication skills when dealing with suppliers and internal teams
- A practical and methodical approach to workload management
- Experience with steel or construction materials would be advantageous, but not essential
- A stable, full-time position within an established UK contractor
