Sustainability

As a major contributor to the construction industry, we understand the impact of our carbon emissions. We recognise our responsibility as an industry leader to act with sustainability in mind and so we have partnered with Net Zero Nation to ensure that we are tracking and analysing data, and making changes that maximise our impact and minimise our emissions. J&D Pierce is committed to:

Steel Net Zero by 2050

Reducing our CO2 emissions from 24.4g to 9g per £1 of sales by 2030.

Maintaining our current environmental accreditations - ISO 14001 and FSC.

Continuing our Energy Reduction Programme including using 100% renewables, LED lighting, and sensor-based reduction systems. Plus, installation of PV panels and utilisation of alternative heating sources across our facilities.

Continuing and expanding on our Waste Reduction Program including reduction in scrap metals, 100% reuse of timber (excluding damages), and enhanced recycling across our facilities.

Continuing and enhancing our Sustainable Haulage Scheme including use of modern and fuel-efficient vehicles, transition from diesel to HVO fuels, use of electric vehicles wherever possible, and minimal haulage through our comprehensive in-house vertical service.

Offering reduced and lowest carbon steel production options to all our clients utilising electric arc furnaces. This can lead to huge reductions in a project's carbon footprint.

Operating our first zero carbon site.

Many of our sustainability projects are already underway but we hope to expand on our plans and quickly reduce our carbon output.
