The Health and Safety of our staff, visitors and those affected by our works is our number one priority. In order to ensure these expectations are met and exceeded, we ensure the ongoing management of our successful health, safety, environmental and quality (SHEQ) systems.
J & D Pierce invests significantly in the implementation of the best procedures and equipment, allowing us to minimise risks throughout our projects.
We hold leading credentials in our market sector, far beyond the national industry standard. With all operations in-house, we are able to train, manage and control all our resources, aiming to continuously improve safety and efficiency.
On and off site, we ensure all personnel are trained to the highest standards in all disciplines of our operations in order to meet the demanding SHEQ credentials we have attained. Production and site safety, including training, is managed by our own dedicated SHEQ and Training Divisions.

UKCA Marking

UKCA marking applies to all construction products permanently constructed which includes steel products such as steel sections, welding consumables, bolts and fabricated steel components that are in buildings, bridges, roads and other civil engineering projects.
UKCA marking is a declaration by J & D Pierce (Contracts) Ltd that our products meet all the appropriate provisions of the relevant legislation implementing European Directives and this has been achieved by us to the highest possible level in attaining: CE BS EN 1090-1 FPC Execution Class 4 and CE BS EN 1090-2 WC Execution Class 4
ISO 9001
ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for quality management systems.
Our quality management system was first accredited to ISO 9001 standard in 1997 and we have worked tirelessly to maintain and improve our management system ever since.
Proving that we have the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet and exceed the needs of our clients and customers.

ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. Our environmental management system was first accredited to ISO 14001 standard in 2010 this ensuring that we adequately control environmental aspects, reduce the environmental impacts from our operations and ensure legal compliance.
ISO 45001

ISO 45001 is an internationally recognised standard for occupational health and safety management systems.
Our occupational health and safety management system was certified to ISO 45001 standard in 2019 and will be continually reviewed and improved upon going forward.
This promotes a safe and healthy working environment for all of our staff by providing a framework that helps our organization to identify and control health and safety risks, reduce the potential for accidents and improve overall health and safety performance.
Achilles Building Confidence

Achilles building confidence is essentially a thorough pre-qualification questionnaire. However, upon completion of this pre-qualification questionnaire our organisation underwent a rigorous audit to assess our capability, competence and compliance.
The purpose of the audit is to validate the pre-qualification questionnaire and identify areas for business improvement and risk reduction.
Our organisation is again audited each and every year.
RISQS
RISQS formerly known as Achilles Link Up is essentially a thorough pre-qualification questionnaire specific to the rail industry. However, upon completion of this pre-qualification questionnaire our organisation underwent a rigorous audit to assess our capability, competence and compliance.

CHAS
CHAS or The Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme is a SSIP or Safety Schemes in Procurement member scheme which audits and assesses our compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Holding CHAS certification demonstrates our compliance.

CIRAS is a confidential incident reporting service that we utilise and is also a requirement for our Achilles certifications.
