Barony Campus

Cumnock, East Ayrshire

Barony Campus is an educational development consisting of 5 new structures (3 new school buildings, a sports hall and an energy centre) in Cumnock, East Ayrshire

It stands as the largest capital project that has ever been undertaken by East Ayrshire Council. It encompasses 5 different schools from the local area:

  • Barshare Primary School, Supported Learning Centre and Early Childhood Centre
  • Greenmill Primary School and Early Childhood Centre
  • Hillside Additional Support Needs School
  • Auchinleck Academy
  • Cumnock Academy and Supported Learning Centre, ranging from Early Childhood through to Secondary Education.

The 23,000m² Campus will house 2,500 students and 300 staff. The student facilities include a secondary school (for 1,633 pupils), a primary school (517 pupils), a nursery (240 children), an 80-place supported learning centre and 30 additional places for students with special educational requirements.  The Super school will will also boast a immersive cinema, auditorium, recording studio, hydrotherapy pool and 13 indoor sports courts.

This project was started in July 2018. Each block varied in size and design and totaled over 1800T in fabricated Structural Steelwork.

The school is scheduled to be completed, and open by 2020.
