Peterborough

Lidl’s new RDC near Peterborough was designed, fabricated and erected by J&D Pierce (Contracts) Ltd.

The main building is 242m long, by 185m wide, with a height of 20m, comprising of large span fabricated steel trusses. Incorporated into the building was administration facilities which were constructed utilising long span steel beams forming the mezzanine floor, including the installation of metal floor decking. The 3500Te structural frame was constructed in a fast-track 10 week programme, utilising J&D Pierce’s multi-crew site teams.

The building is the retailer’s largest UK RDC at over 750,000 sq. ft on a 34 acre site at Gateway Peterborough. The Centre is expected to create 500 jobs and manages the supply and distribution to stores in the surrounding areas.
