⸺ Production Team
Our manufacturing operations start in our Production Office, they’re responsible for procurement, processing of files from our drawing office, and delivery to the machines and our floor managers to distribute for fabrication. The business operates a just-in-time ‘pull’ system for stock inventory manufacturing to phased construction deliveries. Within the main production facility, we use bar coding and RFI technology to monitor and control quality and supply. Through combined services we can offer additional value, keep costs lower, and reduce your project’s carbon output. We are committed to improving our environmental policies and minimising our impact on the planet. Click here to learn more about our sustainability practices.
⸺ Fabrication
On delivery, raw steel is introduced to our state-of-the-art automated system, comprising of shot blasters, marking units, saws, drills, and robotic coping line in preparation for fabrication.
This fully automated system is the largest of its kind in Europe, provided by Voortman capable of processing over 200Te of steel per day. Plates and fittings parts are then batched and transported through the factory to the fabrication floor. Larger beams and bespoke fabrications are handled at our Strubeam facility in East Kilbride utilising a similar process. Our teams are supported by our cutting-edge automated robotic assembly system.
This system is the largest of its kind in Europe, provided by Voortman capable of processing above 200Te of steel per day. Plates and pieces are then batched and transported through the factory to the fabrication floor. Fabrication then takes place by our skilled fabricators utilising MIG welders, plasma cutters, angle grinders, and hand tools to manufacture beams and parts in accordance with drawings released from the production office. Once fabricated, parts are thoroughly inspected by our in-house QA team prior to welding, after which all components receive a visual and NDT welding inspection – to comply with our Execution Class 4 accreditation – before signoff. Parts are then given final fettling prior to entering the paint shop.
⸺ Painting
With fabrication complete, the final stage of the manufacturing process can begin, painting.
Our team of qualified painting operatives utilise single and plural pump systems to apply the relevant specification, including primers, multicoat systems, and intumescent coatings. Our onsite paint inspectors carry out full QA for film thickness and quality prior to shipment. It is then loaded onto trailers and prepared for delivery to site.
